چکیده

Star complexes are the highest level groupings in the hierarchy of the embedded young stars, clusters and associations, which obey the size-age relation. Starburst clumps, superassociations, supergiant HII regions are different titles for the groupings of the same size as complexes but with active star formation over all the grouping. The coherent star formation in the regions of violent star formation was probably triggered by external pressure. The issue of gravitational boundness of complexes and superassociations is briefly discussed.

Based on observations of the most abundant sulfur-bearing molecules (H 2 S, CS, NS, SO, H 2 CS, OCS, and SO 2) carried out with the IRAM 30m telescope 1 and SEST 2 , we present the first analysis of the sulfur chemistry of an extragalac-tic source, the nuclear region of the starburst galaxy NGC 253. This is the first time that H 2 S and, tentatively, H 2 CS are detected towards the nucleus of a...

We compute the synthetic 2-100 keV spectrum of an actively star forming galaxy. To this aim we use a luminosity function of point sources appropriate for starbursts (based on Chandra data), as well as the types of stellar sources and their corresponding spectra. Our estimates indicate that a Compton spectral component resulting from scattering of SN-accelerated electrons by ambient FIR and CMB ...
